Most likely, you’ve Googled Wordal’s solution or looked for instructions on how to use it. At least you don’t look alone.

The fact is that “Wordle” is Google’s most searched phrase this year, both domestically and globally. Shows that the five-letter guessing game Wordle, owned by the New York Times, continues to capture our interest. It did better than potentially more interesting topics like “election results,” “Betty White,” and “Ukraine” internationally as well as in the US.

According to a blog post published by Google on Wednesday, Wordle was the “top trending search globally, as guessing five-letter words every day became a way of life.” The “moments, individuals, and trends that ignited our collective curiosity” on the search platform are examined in its yearly Year in Search report.

In the well-known online game Wordle, a five-letter word can be correctly identified six times daily. However, on other days, finding things can be challenging, prompting people to seek ideas, advice, and answers.

Josh Wardle, a Brooklyn-based software developer who previously worked for Reddit, debuted the game in October 2021. And it quickly became quite well-liked. It reached the point where it expand its gaming subscription business and entice new readers. The New York Times decided to buy Wordle in February 2022.

The Times collaborated with Hasbro to create a Wordle board game in July to “keep its present audience engaged with Wordle. And to expose Wordle to all new audiences,”. According to Jonathan Knight, head of games at the Times, in a recent interview with CNN Business.

Last month, the Times appointed Tracy Bennett as the new Wordle editor, signaling a change from Wardle’s pre-selected words to terms chosen by the Times. A plural with an “s” or “es” ending will never be the answer. Try to guess plural words to help you eliminate potential terms.

Wordle is still accessible without charge. But The Times’s other games are only accessible after a predetermined amount of free plays.
