Nord is OnePlus‘ line of low- to mid-priced Android phones, meant to provide essential functionality to individuals who can’t buy the company’s high-end flagships. We haven’t heard many rumors about the OnePlus Nord 3 so far, so we’re not sure what to expect.
The OnePlus Nord has been joined. By a slew of spin-offs. Including the Nord CE, Nord N10, Nord N100, Nord N200, and others. However, the Nord 3 is projected to be the next. A major addition to the lineup.
However, based on previous mobiles and the present condition of the Android phone industry, we have a fair notion of what we’d like to see, so while we wait for more information, we’ve published our wish-list below.
When will the OnePlus Nord 3 be released, and how much will it cost?
Based on past experience. The OnePlus Nord 3 will most likely be announced. The original and second-generation versions both debuted in July, so that seems like the most likely date, although it may also be a little earlier or later.
As we approach closer to July, we’ll almost certainly hear some speculations about particular dates.
In terms of price, we’ll have to wait until closer to the event for some leaks, although we can get a reasonable approximation based on historical performance.
The Nord and Nord 2 were both released. For £379 (about $480, AU$680) and £399 (roughly $550, AU$750). So a price in that range is extremely likely.
Leaks and news
We haven’t heard much about the OnePlus Nord 3 yet, but a leak has revealed many of the potential specifications, including a 6.7-inch 1080 x 2412 screen, an upper mid-range Dimension 8100 chipset, 12GB RAM, 4,500mAh battery with 150W charging, in-screen fingerprint scanner, triple-lens rear camera with 50MP, 8MP, and 2MP sensors, and 16MP front camera.
OnePlus has also stated that it will release a phone with 150W charging, so that element appears to be a possibility – however, this would be the quickest charging OnePlus phone to date.
What we’re looking for
- A faster refresh rate on the display
The display refresh rate of a smartphone refers to how many times per second the display changes; whereas 60Hz (or 60 times per second) used to be standard in almost all phones, the last few years have seen a shift to 120Hz, or even 144Hz for a select few.
Which is useful for streaming video or playing games, but also for swiping between menus and home pages.
Many inexpensive, mid-range, and premium phones now run at least 120Hz, but prior OnePlus Nord phones were anomalies, running at 90Hz.
We’d like to see the OnePlus Nord 3 go to 120Hz to keep up with other phones in the same price range – and just to make the phone feel better to use.
- A few of Hasselblad camera gimmicks
OnePlus has partnered with camera company Hasselblad for its flagship series, thus these phones have optimized cameras with additional capabilities that make them ideal for photography. We’d like to see the benefits of this collaboration extend to the Nord series as well.
One of the OnePlus 10 camera modes is the Hasselblad Pro Mode, which works similarly to the Pro Mode on other smartphones but records in a higher color profile and saves in a more space-efficient form of RAW. Another mode is a video version of Pro, which allows you to change parameters while recording.
Because if the mid-range Nord 3 isn’t capable of doing spectacular and intensive camera acrobatics. We’d like to see some camera features that set it apart from similarly priced competitors.
- No throttling of apps
Users learned that the OxygenOS software used by OnePlus phones stealthily throttled popular apps in mid-2021. Landing the company in hot trouble (this means it reduced how much of the processing power they could access).
The protest eventually led to the introduction of a toggle in the settings that allows you to turn off throttling if you want. So, most people won’t notice and will just think their phone is slow.
We’d like the corporation to delete or, at the absolute least. Turn off the throttling feature by default (OnePlus says having it on saves battery life, something disputed by user reports).
- Easy range to buy different colors
The OnePlus Nord 2 was available in blue, grey, or green (as well as a bizarre Pac-Man design).
Green was exclusively available in India, whereas blue was only available in certain memory configurations in the UK. That’s on top of the fact that, in this writer’s perspective. Both the grey and blue selections are a little boring.
Let’s see some reds, oranges, and yellows, or maybe something a little more unusual, like the Vivo V23’s color-changing gold and blue.
- A different type of crossover
As previously reported, the OnePlus Nord 2 came in a Pac-Man edition featuring a dot-patterned back that glowed in the dark. As well as software chock-full of Pac-Man Easter eggs.
OnePlus has also had various Cyberpunk 2077 devices. And McLaren variants of some of its phones.
