From the updates, it has been found that Google has recently confirmed two outages that are affecting the search results. One of the issues affects mobile indexing whereas the other affects canonicalization.

Recently, Google’s Danny Sullivan announced through Twitter that Google search is getting impacted by two outages. The first outage results in affecting the mobile indexing whereas the other involved canonicalization. The second outage is affected by how duplicate content was being handled and shown in search results, including the syndicated content as well. Therefore, these the confirmed outages that Google has started facing.

Furthermore, the announcement is followed by a week of anecdotal reports from the community of SEO. Starting from today, the Search Engine Journal experienced multiple dropped URL’s. This allows submitting the URL back via Google Search Console and this seems to get them back to the Google index. After all this Google explains the outages, have a look if you also want to know about it.

Google Danny Sullivan came up on Twitter to explain the people about these outages. Danny Sullivan says that we are currently working on this problem and will soon find a solution to get rid of these indexing issues impact by some URLs. Probing further, if the already indexed page has gone, then this might be a mobile indexing issue, where we are falling to select any page at all to index. If the canonical issue is involved, then URL Inspector may show the URL as a duplicate and the Google selected canonical will be different. Ergo, this is what Danny Sullivan explained in the post of Twitter, you can check out the tweets as well.

Indexing Issues were there for a Week:

There are multiple reports on Google about dropping down of pages. So, when the web pages drop down they are not there in the search results for so long. Moreover, there have been so many reports on dropping down of home pages as well from the Google index. Hence, this is an issue that is there for more than a week, Danny Sullivan says. In addition, he says that don’t worry we are trying to solve the issue and will definitely come with a solution soon.

Canonicalization Indexing Issue:

This is an issue that appears to be an issue on how Google was handling web pages that were cited and copied from other pages. This further resulted in not showing the original page on the Google Index. Earlier today only, someone said that we were from The Daily Caller Reported issues with pages that weren’t showing for searches. They observed that webpages that cited their articles were showing but Th Daily Caller was not.

Good News:

It’s been so many days that publishers and SEO’s are discussing on these indexing issues. But the problems appear to be worsened by the weekend, becoming more widespread today. However, it is very much good that Google has identified the problem and is currently working on it to solve the issue out.
