I think we can all say that there is a glitz and glam about playing a game of roulette. We are all drawn too. Even if you are not an avid gambler, you may find there is an appeal to it that is just hard to resist.
It can be a bit intimidating if you do not know how to play, but there is a reason that it is one of the most exciting and popular table games on any casino floor. Rules in roulette are fairly simple, and you can win big, even on your first go.
Out of all the casino games, it is one of the simplest games, and easiest games to play.
The basics of the game.
We all know what roulette looks like. There is a wheel with slots for numbers that range 1 to 36 as well, and there will be either one or two slots for 0 and 00. Each of these slots are red or black, while the 0 and 00 slots are green. Players stand around a table where the roulette wheel is laid out and where the bets will be placed.
Players of this game can place bets until the dealer closes the session. Once every player has placed their bets in, they will spin the wheel and throw in a small ball which will spin in the opposite direction. This ball will eventually fall into one of the marked slots, which will determine which bets win.
If you place a bet that corresponds to the color or number of the slot, you can then receive a payout. You can also check for special bet promotions that can increase your winnings too.
Making bets in roulette.
The basic rules of roulette are super easy, and all you really need to know is how to make roulette bets. There is no strategy like in poker or blackjack, so it is really simple to play.
There are two basic groups of bets that each player needs to be familiar with, as they will determine the roulette payouts.
The first group of roulette bets are inside bets, and the second is outside bets. You need to know these on the table.
Inside and outside bets are terms that refer to where they are found on the roulette board when the bets are being placed.
Bets placed on numbers are known as inside bets, if the bet is placed on another section, then they are called outside bets.
Inside bets.
- Straight.
Straight bets are made on a single number. For this you just place your chip over the number.
- Split.
A split bet covers two adjacent numbers. For this bet, place the chip on a shared edge between numbers.
- Street.
Street bets, which can also be called line bets, covers three numbers on a single vertical line. For this bet, just place your chip on the outer edge of the row.
- Corner bet.
A corner/ square bet will cover four numbers within a square. Place your chip in the common corner for this bet type.
- Double street bet.
A double street is also called a six line. It will cover two adjacent vertical lines. In order to make this bet, place your chip on the shared outer corner of the first numbers in each line.
- Trio.
A trio bet is a special, three-number bet type that will include the zero as well as two adjacent numbers. To make this type of bet, just place your chip in the center of where the three number squares meet up.
- Special bets.
There are two other additional inside bets that are only available in certain variations. You can get a ‘first four’ bet in European roulette which covers 0,1,2 and 3. And there is also the ‘basket bet’ which you can get in American roulette, which covers 00,0,1,2, and 3.
Outside bets.
There are also a selection of outside bets that can be made as well.
- Low or high bets.
For a low or high bet, you can bet on numbers 1- 18 which is a low bet, as well as 19-36 which is a high bet. If the ball were to land on any of the numbers within this range, you will win.
- Red or black.
This bet is placed on all numbers that are either red or black. If a winning number features your chosen color then you will win.
- Even or odd bets.
For this bet you simply bet on all even or all odd numbers. (Zeros do not count.)
- Dozens bets.
In this bet type, you will be betting on either the first, second, or third square of 12 numbers.
- Column bets.
Column bets are made on one of three-12 number columns, you will win if one of those twelve numbers hits.
