The BCCI’s selection committee, captained by Chetan Sharma, is expected to convene at the BCCI’s headquarters in Mumbai on Tuesday or Wednesday and then connect with captain Virat Kohli in Manchester and coach Ravi Shastri in London.

The BCCI’s president, Sourav Ganguly, and secretary, Jay Shah (convenor of the selection committee), are also expected to be involved in a crucial decision by the committee.

The BCCI is expected to release either an 18 or 20-member team because the ICC will allow a squad power of 30, as opposed to 23 in previous seasons, due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The figure includes those who assist.

There is no limit on the number of players a team can have, but the extra cost is supposed to be met by the national cricket body.

This team can include at least 13 to 15 members, all of whom are automated substitutes. Therefore, only a few seats will be open for discussion.

Two players are capable of wearing the big gloves: Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul.

Shardul Thakur’s batting abilities could be needed if Hardik Pandya does not bowl his complete quota of 4 overs.

Suraj Yadav’s inclusion is almost certain, while Shreyash Iyer will regain his rightful place in the team.

After Rohit Sharma and Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and an in-form Prithvi Shaw might battle it out for the third opener’s spot. A 20-member squad, however, allows for everyone to have a chance to shine.

Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are also contenders in the fast bowling division.

Washington Sundar will likely be selected with no match follow after being ruled ineligible for the IPL due to a hamstring injury.

Left-arm pacers include Chetan Sakariya and T Natarajan, but the latter has done little, while the former might serve as an internet bowler.

Ok, so the removal of Yuzvendra Chahal and Shikhar Dhawan has raised some questions, but MS Dhoni’s inclusion as team mentor appears to have gone down well. Our coverage of the T20 World Cup will begin in less than a month, but we’ll keep you updated on the INDvENG series, IPL, and everything else in the world of cricket until then. So, until we meet again, goodnight and good luck to you!

There’s also a race to keep up with speed. It is Jasprit Bumrah who chose himself. He’ll have an easier time getting into the team because of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s expertise. India may take two more pacers into battle. India’s batting options include Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar, but will Shami cut? T Natarajan and Chetan Sakariya, on the other hand, provide a left-arm perspective.

Although Shreyas Iyer has missed much of the recent international activity, he may be named in the team. During England’s ODI series against New Zealand in March, he suffered a shoulder injury and hasn’t played any cricket since.
