Bing has launched its first official plugin for WordPress aimed toward helping site owners get their content indexed immediately. Rather than expecting a bingbot to crawl the location, the plugin notifies Bing of any new or updated content automatically using its Submit URL API.

Bing believes that the longer-term for search engines is a smaller amount about crawling to get content and more about sharing new and updated content across the online, a fundamental shift within the way that search engines handle internet sites,” Bing Product Manager Fabrice Canel said. “Instead of monitoring RSS, sitemaps, and HTML pages to see for brand spanking new pages, discover content changes and/or new outbound links, websites will notify search engines directly about relevant URLs changing on their website..”

Bing is sending emails to site owners after installing the new URL submission WordPress plugin. the e-mail is to let these site owners know of a “large number of failures in the submission of URLs” to the Bing index. this is often resulting in searchers “not seeing your domain on priority within the index.” This doesn’t sound great but it seems Bing is on top of it.

Search engines can take anywhere from several hours to a couple of weeks to crawl an internet site. Bing’s API allows site owners to urge content indexed immediately, while eventually reducing the crawling frequency for sites where there are not any changes. Users will be got to generate an API key so as to configure the plugin for access to the Bing Webmaster Tools API

Some useful functions included in the plugin:

  • The power to activate and deactivate the automated sending function.
  • Manually submit a URL to the Bing Index.
  • View the list of recent URL submissions from the plugin
  • Retry any failed shipments from the recent shipments list.
  • Download recent URL submissions for analysis

To obtain the API key, simply click on the link on the plugin’s internal page, being necessary to access the Bing Webmaster portal so as to gather the generated code

Follow these two steps to put in the plugin and activate automatic real-time indexing of your content in Bing

Step One

Search Bing URL Submissions from the plugin install page and download it

Step Two

Add  Bing Webmaster Tools API key to activate.

You can access your API key by navigating to Settings > API Access > API Key within the Bing Webmaster Tools portal

Now what?

Now the URLs for brand spanking new and updated pages are going to be submitted to the Bing Webmaster Tools API.

This ensures new pages are indexed as soon as they’re published, and existing pages keep.

The Bing URL Submissions plugin offers equivalent capabilities as Bing’s URL submission tool on the online.

Up to 10,000 URLs are often submitted per day, and even more, if a special request is formed to the Bing Webmaster Tools team.

The plugin also comes with these additional features:

  • Toggle the automated submission feature on and off.
  • Manually submit a URL to Bing Index.
  • View an inventory of recent URL submissions from the plugin.
  • Download recent URL submissions for analysis
